160 acres of adventures waiting to be discovered.

A unique family-friendly camping, picnicking and animal feeding experience on our private, gated 160-acre property in the heart of the Atherton Tablelands. Conveniently located just 15 minutes from Atherton and only 1.5 hours from Cairns, we’re the perfect base to relax, reconnect and explore everything the Tablelands has to offer. Whether you’re here for a weekend escape or a longer adventure, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Our off-grid campsites are carefully positioned amongst rolling hills, Australian rainforest and along the banks of Moran Creek and the Barron River, with each site offering its own unique character and suitability for different camping styles. Spend your days riding bikes along our many tracks, wandering to the waterfall, playing games at the Barn, or simply unwinding around your campfire under the stars. We even have horse-friendly campsites, and if you’d like to explore on horseback, Tait’s Wongabel Stables is just a short drive away. With clean flushing toilets, hot showers and our famous “loo with a view”, you’ll enjoy the comforts of camping without losing the country experience.

No visit to Old Mates Country is complete without meeting our friendly farm animals. Join us for our afternoon animal feeding sessions every Saturday and daily during school holidays, where you can get up close with our chickens, ducks, geese, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, buffalo and seasonal pigs. We’ve created a safe, child-friendly environment where families can slow down, explore, make new friends and create memories together. There’s always something new to discover, and we’re sure you’ll want to come back again and again.
